HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEMS WITH TRANSPONDER KEYS

How does a transponder key work?

Transponder keys are standard nowadays. They make it much more difficult for a thief to steal your vehicle. Even though it’s more expensive, it’s worth the peace of mind it affords you.

Anyone who has transponder keys ~ also called transponder “chip” keys ~ knows how much easier they are to use than regular keys. These specialized keys are ignition keys for your vehicle that make getting in and out of your car a breeze, because you can unlock your car doors without actually placing the key in the lock; you can get your trunk open remotely; you can activate and deactivate your car alarm; and, with some, you can even start up your car remotely.

The way it works is that the chip inside the key emits a particular signal to your automobile’s computer, a singular frequency that’s aligned to your car only. When the signal’s received, the mechanical part of the key releases your steering lock so you can activate the ignition and drive.

However, there are problems that can arise. Here’s how to get out of a jam when it comes to typical challenges with transponder keys.

Locksmith Hears Baby Boy’s Barely Audible Screams at Night. What He Saves Him from is Terrifying

When a Georgia locksmith pulled up to a routine call on Wednesday night, he probably didn’t anticipate that it would include an experience in which he would be called a hero.

The locksmith, Volley Collins, came to the aid of a 18-year-old woman who locked her keys in her car. However, it turned out, she wasn’t a victim, but a perpetrator of a twisted crime.

After Collins unlocked the car, he could hear the barely audible cries of a 16-month-old boy. What he saw was heartbreaking: the child was wrapped up in packing tape.

According to Alive 11:
“I unlocked the car, reached in to get the keys out, and I heard a baby crying in the back seat,” Collins said Thursday. “I took my flashlight, looked back there, sure enough, there’s a baby in the back seat."
But the terrified toddler wasn’t just in the backseat, he was on the floorboard of the backseat.

Even more disturbing is the fact that the car was parked by a lake, and investigators have considered the horrible scenario of the vehicle being driven into the body of water.

The mother who committed the crime, Grace An, is sitting in a jail cell and facing charges of first degree child cruelty, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment.

As for Collins, he said of the troubling but harrowing experience:
“All you can think is, you know, God had a hand in it to put us there at the same time.”
Fortunately, the child is in good condition. And if wasn’t for the heroic actions of Collins, things could have been so much worse.
