Locksmith Hears Baby Boy’s Barely Audible Screams at Night. What He Saves Him from is Terrifying

When a Georgia locksmith pulled up to a routine call on Wednesday night, he probably didn’t anticipate that it would include an experience in which he would be called a hero.

The locksmith, Volley Collins, came to the aid of a 18-year-old woman who locked her keys in her car. However, it turned out, she wasn’t a victim, but a perpetrator of a twisted crime.

After Collins unlocked the car, he could hear the barely audible cries of a 16-month-old boy. What he saw was heartbreaking: the child was wrapped up in packing tape.

According to Alive 11:
“I unlocked the car, reached in to get the keys out, and I heard a baby crying in the back seat,” Collins said Thursday. “I took my flashlight, looked back there, sure enough, there’s a baby in the back seat."
But the terrified toddler wasn’t just in the backseat, he was on the floorboard of the backseat.

Even more disturbing is the fact that the car was parked by a lake, and investigators have considered the horrible scenario of the vehicle being driven into the body of water.

The mother who committed the crime, Grace An, is sitting in a jail cell and facing charges of first degree child cruelty, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment.

As for Collins, he said of the troubling but harrowing experience:
“All you can think is, you know, God had a hand in it to put us there at the same time.”
Fortunately, the child is in good condition. And if wasn’t for the heroic actions of Collins, things could have been so much worse.
